The First Supper is a collaborative work in development as part of an awarded Santa Fe Arts Institute Food Justice Residency 2014-2015 focused on Saint Joseph School Farm and Apple Orchard project in San Fidel, New Mexico. Food Forest permaculture design principles are proposed to be implemented to enhance and embellish an already existing Farm to School initiative servicing the Acoma and Laguna Pueblo community and children in attendance at the Saint Joseph Mission School. The key objectives are to increase local sustainable food production to improve the long term health and well-being of the indigenous and local population, invigorate a dynamic food system project within the educational curriculum of the Saint Joseph Mission School and facilitate a cultural exchange between artists, designers, farmers and citizens embracing regional New Mexico traditions in concert with the proven design and alternative farming practices of Brooklyn Grange, artist Andrea Reynosa and Bone/Levine Architects.
